We've been havin fun all summer long...

Won't be long till summer time is through...

Just like the Beach Boy's famous song...we've been havin fun all summer long!  

We can't believe how fast the days have gone by!  

And YOU won't believe how big Smokey has grown and how much he has learned!

 Here in south Texas we have been parched ALL summer.  It's been oppressively hot and severely dry -- essentially no rain for months. One afternoon we got a brief respite from the heat with a brief mid-afternoon shower. We took Smokey out on the back porch to enjoy the cloud cover and to experience those few sprinkles from the heavens...

 At first, he was attracted to the noise and the movement of the rain spilling down through the downspout. 

With some prompting he ventured out into the rain to do some exploring.

 Guide dogs are expected to perform in all kinds of weather so they cannot be afraid of rain or the noise of thunder.

 

Then it was time to burn off some energy 

 

And get some good boy treats from dad

 This the one and only real shower we've had all summer long...and we'd love for Smokey to get more exposure in the rain, but mother nature has to cooperate. We hope it doesn't come in the form of a hurricane!
